A Photo Essay

Friday we drove up Highway 101, deep into the mountains and woods.

Arrived at camp, unpacked and all that, and then began dinner preparation.
These are the shuckers.  A very excellent team.

Saturday we headed out, North.  Up 101 to the Honeydew turnoff, head West.
Note: it is a loooong, winding road.
Up mountains, around mountains, and up some more mountains.
"Wait!  Papa!  I want to see if there is a lid!"

The top.
And we are going to the bottom.
(this does not do justice to how far down it is)

The bottom!
Crossing the Mattole River.

Bandits at the picnic.
Cousin Tim.  Sister Rosalie.
1955.

Brother Bob.
Thinking.
Politics.

Uncle Bruce.
Grandma Annie's little brother.
McCleod.

Uncle Bruce's Great-great Grand Daughter.
(melt)

Stop!
I have to capture that!
It looks like you're having fingers for lunch.

Rebekah's lunch on Papa's arm.
That's Aunt Cleo's famous berry salad.
It was REALLY windy.
And this is one of the reasons we love Papa:
He is very patient.

Lola.
The Gypsy Cobb.

Cousin Joyce.
She is celebrating her 80th birthday!
I am not joking.

Cousin Joyce's daughter, Cindy.
Mary riding Ruby.

Girls on horses.
New friends.

They just can't get enough of themselves!

Home again, home again.
Over the mountain.
Whoops!  A pothole in a shady spot.
Flat tire.

Are you kidding?
You're taking pictures?
Isn't anybody upset?

Well, no.
I am not upset.
Look!  Papa knows how to do this.
We are safe.
Found the jack parts in all the places that they're hidden.
Mary found the jack under the back seat.
Wow.

Back to camp.
All day Sunday.
The Eel River.
Yes!

And the baby Corn Tiger.

And many, many photos.

Pennyroyal mosquito repellent.

Nonnie and Papa and their Pennyroyal.

Thank you, N2.
For your generosity.
For your friendship.
For Being
You!

xoxo

I am so glad Someone had a camera, LC, to capture all the sun and fun! It was a great year with you and Wayne and the girls there to see the Corn Tiger's first steps into the Eel River =o). x0x0 N2

This looks like a trip for the memory books. Is it an annual thing? In our family everyone brings cameras so we usually have 4 or five of the same shot.

* I love Rosalie's glasses.
* Does Aunt Cleo share the berry salad recipe?
* Cousin Joyce should be on some kind of anti-aging cream commercial
* Where does one find pennyroyal?
*What is the picture after Corn Tiger? I can't make it out.

The photo after Corn Tiger is one of a series I did of Mary Alice, and Rebekah. I may have to post them all, as they came out rather astounding!

I do have Aunt Cleo's recipe, and will post it, soon, I hope! Oh, it is Divine. We all have 4ths and 5ths.

Cousin Joyce taught preschool for many years. We all believe that her beautiful heart shows up as a gorgeous woman.

Pennyroyal grows in moist soil, in CA, (Pacific Coast) as far as I know, but I don't know everything! ;-)

And yes, that Aunt Rosalie shows us how to dress every time! But I have to say, she copied me on the glasses....

Wow. That looks like so much fun, and your photos are gorgeous -- each and every one.

Looks like everyone had a wonderful time hats off to cousin Joyce.
Isn't strange to look at a baby photo from the past and then see his great-great grand-daughter in the next one all the years and family events that separate these two baby photos*!*

And hello to you to LC :)

Wow, what a great looking family reunion. At least it looked like one, with all those relatives.

Swallowtail, these photos make me feel like I was right there. And I wish I had been! I especially like the patient pony. I want to give him a carrot! Lovely words and images. Thanks for the smiles!

Great photos, now I know where those beautiful shots I have seen on BW come from :)

Everyone certainly seems to have enjoyed themselves.
